Dread Zeppelin

Say hello to John, he is from Minnesota and likes Coca Cola, American Baseball, the band Yes, and meeting new people. While shooting the sunset he came up and said - "Hey, want a picture of something you have never seen before?"

The Moon, My Love

To achieve the effect on the print below, I used an Anti-Newton Glass 4x5 carrier and used blue artists tape to mask off a custom frame.

Back

Here is an outtake from my time in Austin shooting for the Living Canvas series. Troy's backpiece, which was done by the venerable Chris Trevino, is one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen.

200!!

Well, this is my 200th communication since I started broadcasting here in this space. The image below is rather appropriate to mark such a milestone, as honestly I have never been more proud of anything I have ever created in my life. Actually, let me step back and say that in my heart I believe I had nothing to do with the images below, and that I acted merely as a vessel, a transmission device, capturing the faces of the most beautiful and selfless people I have ever encountered. The faces below are the people I volunteer with at Mother's Kitchen - a vegetarian kitchen that cooks for San Francisco's hungry every Friday. The images are a part of a greater whole, something I am working on that I hope will bring much love into the world and help eliminate suffering and inspire people to give back to their communities.

PEACE to you all!

Hand of the Moon

Did a light test last night with the Moon serving as my subject. Here is a little behind the scenes shot and a final image.

Let It Begin

The image below is the start of a series I have been visualizing for a while now. All the pieces are in place, I think, to get my idea off the ground. The details of the project are going to be kept hush hush, but this first light test got me pretty excited - a long ways to go, but a great first step.

Of course, for the most part I am a purist and there is no photoshop manipulation, everything was done on camera. The actual series will all be medium format, not sure black and white or color yet.

Moon a la Beck

Autumn De Wilde comes to mind on this one, although I am definitely not comparing myself to her work, she's on another level. But the color just feels like her style. Though it's a digital image, as always no photoshop.

Life's a Dream

Magera: "It's a little morbid."
Me: "Well, that's the point."

Here is a self portrait I whipped up last night. Today, aside from being MLK day (get out and serve!), also happens to be the 200 year anniversary of the birth of Edgar Allan Poe. I figured this image would be appropriate to mark such an occasion.

Years feel like minutes.

The lovely Magera Moon and I celebrated our two year anniversary last night by riding down to Ocean Beach and having a bonfire for two. After a bottle of Sake and some quality fire time, we had some fun and took a few test long exposure shots. Nothing fantastic, mostly just getting a sense of light and exposure for a few ideas rattling around upstairs. The results, at first were quite dissapointing, but I think I know what needs to be done...

Magic Jeff

Again, same rules of the last post apply - NO PHOTOSHOP, non composite, and single exposure for both of these.

Green JB

Though these images are digital, they are unedited. They are not composite images and were created using only a single exposure, some creative flash, good timing, and a little choreography.

PEACE to you all.

Grinders = Sub Sandwich

Magera and I just got back from Connecticut, we were flown out there to shoot some photos - more on that later though. For now I must get some sleep.
