Hello friends!
I certainly have been slacking on the posts, not to say that I have not been creating a lot of images - I just have had very few rolls developed and even fewer scanned.
I am in Hawaii now for the rest of the month and I did not even pack my digital camera - which is a first for my Hawaii trips. All I brought with me was my Nikon FM-10 (manual 35mm) and my Mamiya 645 (manual medium format). After Hawaii it is off to San Francisco at the beginning of July, I will hopefully get a few rolls developed and scanned there.
For now, enjoy this shot taken by my dad. This is me on a paddleboard in Kaneohe Bay, a paddleboard is like a surfboard but is almost 13 feet in length and much thicker. You stand up on it and use a paddle to propel yourself.Peace!

no rest for the wicked
yesterday left me little time to rest and recover, and a late night night hockey game did not help. but, it was fun and i really enjoy shooting hockey. it is very fast paced and you have to keep your eyes on the prize, or in this case the puck, at all times in the tiny viewfinder. it was the final game of the season - the all star game - which made it even more fun.
shooting in a new rink with so many different colored jerseys was throwing me for a loop exposure wise, but despite the sleep deprivation i did what could to think on my feet and adjust on the fly.
anyways, i posted a few shots at my hockey specific flickr, flickr.com/photos/austinhockey. give them a look, enjoy!
peace!

pedal power
about six months ago i made a pretty radical decision, i got rid of my car. my life circumstances are such that i found myself using it barely once a week - i live in the west campus area with eveyrthing i need within walking distance. for the most part i telecommute from my favorite coffe shops - but when i do need to go into the office it is hardly a mile from my home. my car was just sitting there, wasting space.
making the transition to being a full time cycle commuter was more of a personal challenge than anything else. although it would be nice to say i did it for ecological or economic reasons - that wasn't the case. i just wanted to prove i could do it. other than the urge for the occasional road trip, i have yet to miss owning a car. it is nice to wake up every morning and think to myself - "well what type of mood am i in, is it a fixed gear or freewheel type of day?" :)
peace!
